Personal Brief

Jesse hails from Vancouver Canada. In 2012 she moved to London from Toronto where she was working primarily as an actress (but naturally, also a waitress), to complete an MA at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She is currently illustrating a children's book and has just directed her first short film. She eats capers by the spoonful and has an unusual affinity for identifying mixed-breed dogs.

Artists on your radar, shout them out!

Tracy Letts - playwrighting

Ivo van Hove - direction

Roy Andersson - film

Leandro Erlich - visual art

Which is your number one location - and what's it best for?

Spanish Banks in Vancouver BC. It's the most peaceful beachscape I know and there are always loads of frollicing pups.

'Getting creative', what's it all about?

Pushing ourselves beyond comfort. Challenging what is expected, what is truthful, what is neccesary, what is moving. Getting out of our own way.

Your Life, Right Now - what's the soundtrack?

I'm addicted to audiobooks, so right now my life is scored by Rachel Cusk's OUTLINE. BUT with a recent self-imposed running regiment, the artists contributing to my pump-up mix are:

-Grimes

-LCD Soundsystem

-Radiohead

-James Blake

-Drake

-Beyonce

-Prince

What is your idea of a jolly good time?

Sun, cider, a grassy knoll with a blanket, my pals, a bunny.

What happened the last time you were a complete disgrace?

I got off the bus and vomitted in a Starbucks bathroom. Last weekend.
