FLOATING CINEMA RETURNS TO LONDON FOR 2013

The Floating Cinema, a 10-week programme of events throughout summer 2013, returns to London's waterways next month. The Floating Cinema has been designed by Duggan Morris Architects in partnership with artists and filmmakers Nina Pope and Karen Guthrie (aka Somewhere) and is conceived as a collection of 'extraordinary cargoes' placed atop a traditional, industrial canal barge.

Safar: A Journey Through Popular Arab Cinema

 

Safar: A Journey Through Popular Arab Cinema, presented by the Arab British Centre, will run from 21 - 27 September and is the most ambitious programme of popular Arab film seen in the UK. 

The programme explores a fifty-year period of filmmaking that demonstrates the diversity and complexity of Arab cinema. The season will focus on Egyptian cultural production and is curated by Egyptian-born Omar Kholeif, curator of Liverpool's FACT.  

The Other Cinema present ‘Brief Encounter’

The organization behind Secret Cinema have just launched The Other Cinema – a global network of pop up cinemas. The Other Cinema will screen one beautiful and vital film each month in a mix of unique and non-traditional venues including former picture palaces, town halls, libraries, churches, parks, youth clubs, universities, schools, hospitals, prisons, oil rigs, army camps and many more.

World film comes to Kilburn!

Ahead of the 2012 Academy Awards on 26th February, the Tricycle in Kilburn, North London will play host to a 10-day season in its cinema, showcasing and celebrating the best international film submissions to this year's award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Secret Cinema. Tell No One.

On 2nd December, Secret Cinema will present more than three weeks of live cinema, participatory theatre, and cultural exploration before curious audiences and curated surroundings creating the longest Secret Cinema run to date.

FUTURE SHORTS LAUNCHES FIRST EVER GLOBAL POP-UP FILM FESTIVAL

 

Launching in November, the Future Shorts Festival is a film festival with a difference. It's the first ever global pop-up festival which showcases the most exciting short films from around the world. The premise is that anyone, anywhere can set up a screening and be part of a massive screening network and a powerful global community.

To celebrate the launch of the new title inFAMOUS 2, PlayStation 3 is behind a unique collaboration between Howard Marks (Mr Nice) and the Godfather of British comics Pat Mills (creator of 2000AD and key writer on Judge Dredd who currently writes graphic novels for Repeat Offenders Ltd, as well as having worked with both DC and Marvel).
