A provocative and visually daring piece of theatre that draws comment upon contemporary society.

The Destroyed Room begins with what seems to be the recording of a debate. As the western guests gather to drink wine and debate world events, cameras film their every word and reaction, beaming them live onto a big screen.

As audiences watch both the live action and the film, slowly and as if in a dream, the debate intensifies and the atmosphere begins to change.

The Destroyed Room is about the abundance of lenses, which bring the world right into our homes. It’s about what we see, what we turn away from... and what’s coming.

Vanishing Point, creator of Tomorrow and The Beautiful Cosmos of Ivor Cutler, took inspiration for this show from Jeff Wall’s famous photograph, which shows a ransacked room where every item of furniture has been destroyed. What happened?
