Personal Brief
Clare Callan is a native East Londoner. Recent years have seen her spend a year in Paradise (by Way of Kensal Green) - ex Highway Man's hang out and West London local, programming and promoting parties, live music, comedy, cabaret, film nights and generally getting caught up in a weird West London whirlwind. Following this, a long term interest in film led her to the doors of Future Shorts, international short film label and events company, with sisters Future Cinema and Secret Cinema under the same roof. Her time there cultivated her love of, and interest in, film - spectating, making and writing about it. At Birds Eye View she was able to interview filmmakers and write about movies to her heart's content (as well as promoting the annual festival!) With an interest that is non genre-specific she seeks out cinema that can move, inspire, shock, make you care, creep into your imagination and indulge your fantasies. She has a particular interest in new and emerging ways to present and experience film. Clare is also interested in music, theatre and live performance - she currently freelances for Tamasha Theatre Company (ongoing) and festivals such as Alpha-ville (sometimes) and also working on a short film.
