#CircusCircusCircus

This week Circus Circus Circus launches! It's a new festival produced by Clive Lyttle's Certain Blacks (named after the lyrics from a The Art Ensemble of Chicago jazz track: "Certain Blacks do what they wanna...") from 7-22 November at Rich Mix and Hoxton Hall.

Expect to go beyond the mainstream with the likes of Live artist Brian Lobel, Jazz maestro Rowland Sutherland, Hip Hop theatre and voice artists Muti Musafiri and Marv Radio, theatre maker and artist Jamal Harewood - and more.

For the festival's climatic finale Certain Blacks have partnered up with Upswing, the company formed by our Guest Editor Vicki Amedume.

Taking place at the eastends notorious Grade II listed Victorian Music Hall Hoxton Hall on Friday 22 November, Upswing will present a sumptuous mixed bill of new circus and cabaret work from Symoné, Joana Dias and Out Of Order amongst other dashing artists.

In Vicki's interview with writer Grace Nicol she talks about the festival, the art of curating, the power of the arts and activism with a nod to Angela Davis, "We are living in the world that the activists of the past imagined”.
