Mien Magazine: 'The Parlour - closing party'
	A pop up Parlour filled with nostalgic fun and civilised merriment; without the modern accoutrements.
Using the site of an historic Clerkenwell shop, this pop up space will be transformed into an eclectic parlour where friends and family can gather to engage, think, express, play games, and – most importantly – relax and enjoy a unique old-world experience.hosted by Mistress of Manners, Dana Gornitzki, Editor of MIEN magazine – a newly launched website dedicated to etiquette, culture and style. The idea behind the Parlour is to return to the roots of what a parlour was used for: a lovely living space where one could receive visitors in the most polite way possible. The Parlour pop up will be a place to write letters, engage in good conversation, play games like cards, drink punch and enjoy music. Most importantly, the Parlour will be free of mobile telephones, computers and modern-day gadgets (and this will be strictly enforced!), making time for quality, face to face conversations. The Parlour will partially be furnished by Restore – a north London community project that aids people in need. So, for those who want to take a piece of the Parlour home with them, some of the furniture will be for sale with all proceeds going to Restore. Get ready to put your phone down for five minutes.. Bringing new meaning to bashing the bishop, the clue is in the title. This is ChessBoxing. Opponents thrash each other in the ring then attack each other on the board. Top of the Bill will be a massive heavyweight challenge with Sergio "The Phoenix" Leveque facing up against London's favourite Dutchman, Hubert "The Wardrobe" Van Melick. The Wardrobe's nickname stems from his imposing 6ft4in frame while Sergio is a true fighting Phoenix - his early boxing career was cut short by a terrible motorcycling accident. Sergio defied specialists who told him he would never walk again and now stands tall as a potential ChessBoxing champion of Europe. 	This fantastical new project is a Fassbinder inspired anti-hero performance with B-movie sci-fi themes of time travel and parallel universes. Film! Animation! A live Fassbinder chorus line! A Greek chorus – and more!
This fantastical new project consists of a re-working of ‘World on a Wire', Rainer Werner Fassbinder's television adaptation of Daniel F. Galouye's science fiction novel, ‘Simulacron 3'. To mark the dimensional, space-time shift phenomenon due to occur that night ‘W.O.W. Noumenon Dilation: Reduced to 3' is a live teleportation of Fassbinder's anti-hero from The New Orpheum Theatre, a fictional cinema, to the magnificent, art deco auditorium of the Rio Cinema in Dalston. Travelling through degrees of fiction and temporality, he will materialise into three time machines, three body doubles, collapsing, colliding and forever reproduced. The performance incorporates a specially commissioned film by LA based artist Damon Packard, CCTV footage, animations, a Fassbinder Chorus Line and a Greek chorus. Get ready for a parallel universe.
