Taking inspiration from 'one of the least viewed videos on the internet', an unremarkable 4 minute clip of a karaoke party of family and friends, the show attempts bit by bit to recreate the scene.

Gob Squad are part arts collective, part theatre, part live event and a bit of everything in between.

Their work is extraordinary. Every time they're in town I try and catch what they're doing next. This is the last piece I have seen in New York and I don't think it's been seen here at all, so this is pretty exciting. It has a lot of involvement with the audience but not in a scary way – in a way that is very surprising. They have this incredible talent of making the members of the audience that they involve feel very comfortable. David Byrne

Gob Squad have been devising and making boundary-crossing work for over 20 years. This is their portrait of 21st-century civilisation re-imagined as a peep hole into our living rooms.

As the performers search for answers and test their knowledge, reconstructing and projecting themselves into this tiny piece of history over and over again, a few lucky audience members may win a chance to take part.

Western Society contains all of Gob Squad's trademarks – a fascination with technology, a mix of media and performance, a desire to elevate the everyday and the determination to create spaces where the audience is part of a collective experience.

Binational and bilingual Gob Squad was founded in 1994 while its members were still at Nottingham Trent and Giessen universities.

27 - 30 August.

Part of David Byrne's Meltdown.
