A night of cabaret put together in response to the result of the results of June’s EU Referendum result.
It’s no surprise that those in the creative community have been shocked by the decision to leave the European, and numerous polls and surveys showed overwhelming support for a ‘Remain’ vote within in the creative industries. National borders are rarely a concern of artists, and notions of exploration and exchange – ideals that the European Union arguably embodies and promotes – are often central to artistic thought.
So how are artists meant to respond to the referendum result? In The Brexsh*t attempts to answer this question and explore possible reactions to Brexit. There’s comedy, circus and cabaret attempting to make sense of where we are now. There’s much-needed comfort in a time of confusion – and there will certainly be a fair share of despair as well.
Highlights include music and poetry from The Double R Club’s Benjamin Louche, a Farage-to-Hitler metamorphosis from Joe Morose, plus Ayesha H’s biting response to our current state of politics.
