Personal Brief
Jamie started this Run Riot project in 2004 as a small e-bulletin to friends and colleagues – keeping them posted with each other’s performance and art shows, gigs, parties and club nights all of which were on the edge of the fringe. He currently helps out at the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club and occasionally DJs for Whoopee and Caligula under the pseudonym ‘Silencio’. Jamie began dabbling with the arts way back in ’97. Prior to that he had studied graphic design at the art school in York, and then attended dance school in London where he attempted abysmally the art of ‘contemporary’, ballet and ‘jazz’! The only time he performed was at the ICA as part of a LIFT project with choreographer Saburo Teshigawara (KARAS) - it was so hot! Since then he has worked for various arts organisations in Press, Marketing, Research and Events Producing and Production. He has been involved with the Almeida Theatre, BBC, Barbican (BITE), Royal Festival Hall, GDIF, Hoxton Hall, LIFT, Random Dance (then resident at Sadler’s Wells), Vice Gallery (Nick Zinner, YYY's) and a few others… Jamie digs the term Avant Garde. He doesn’t know what it means – but he thinks it’s choice. Cool even.

Artists on your radar, shout them out!
1927 - charming, satirical, witty live performances harking back to the elegance of the silent movie era, all with a most abstract and sometimes sinister contemporary twist! Melding story telling, poetry, animation, sound, and dance - they work with multi-media in a great retrospective fashion. Jolly good! http://www.19-27.co.uk/ http://www.myspace.com/1927cabaretmostcurious Girlcore - wild all-girl DJ & party posse led by lush Frenchie Lolo Chambovet. She bought us the first official UK iPod Battle featuring M.I.A. (who won the tournament), Gucci Sound System, El Plate, Wowow!, Vice Magazine, Radio Clit and Romain Rock. Wild! Look out for Girlcore parties at The Old Blue Last and other Shoreditch holes. http://www.myspace.com/laurelene Punchdrunk - sumptuous performance troupe who specialise in site-specific productions, transforming usually very industrial buildings into a most whimsical and dreamy world where classic tales are unraveled through an unconventional promenade experience - you are not led, but are encouraged to explore! Genius! http://www.punchdrunk.org.uk/

Which is your number one location – and what’s it best for?
Got a soft spot for the Bethnal Green Working Men's Club - off course! It's the best haunt for tuning into the future. See it at it's raw best! Also adore Shunt... meanwhile - really want to check out Passing Clouds - must go! You been? Tell me more...

‘Getting creative’, what’s it all about?
I’m sure there’s some clever quote about imprisoning the body, but you’ll never imprison the mind – but I haven’t the foggiest! Point is, getting creative has to be about freeing the mind, right? I think so. Simple answer. Not very creative at the moment… mmm. I’ll come back to this. Where’s the wine?

Your Life, Right Now – what’s the soundtrack?
In no particular order . . . 'Rocket' - Def Leopard - Awesome!! 'Oh Yeah' - Can 'Night-Time Intermission' - Charlotte Gainsbourg 'Photographies et Religieuses' - Serge Gainsbourg 'Cherry Lips' - Archie Bronson Outfit 'Mephisto' - Noblesse Oblige 'Monk Chant (live-1966)' - The Monks 'Careful With That Axe Eugene (Live, Ummagumma) - Pink Floyd 'The Thieving Magpie (abridged)' - Walter Carlos / Gioacchino Rossini 'Baby I'm a star' - Prince 'Happy' - Fischerspooner 'Losing My Edge' LCD Soundsystem

What is your idea of a jolly good time?
Well, tiger, that’d be telling. Laughing in the face of death. That’s a lie. Jumping up and down in an irregular fashion to music with a good steady beat. Being chased by the right thing. Pursuing hedonistic pleasure and being on the constant brink of actually achieving it. Enjoying the company of terribly creative people. Hanging out with utterly irresponsible people. Spending quality time with wise sages. Yes – people are at the root of the trouble.

What happened the last time you were a complete disgrace?
I have yet to drunkenly urinate and defecate myself while seducing my lover’s father at a well to do ‘do’ where the powerful and influential watch in dismay. That would be a disgrace and I don’t think it’s on the cards. If the lover were to be an ‘ex’, and a bitch at that – then that would be a ‘choice’ thing to do. Wouldn’t you say? Rest assured, darling – I’m not so bold or brash…

In this city, where is your most romantic spot?
Secret! The clues. In both summer and winter they are places that evoke a sense of a secret oasis. In summer it is near water, leafy trees and long grass. It’s easy to find a secluded spot, just south of New King’s Road. In the winter… a cosy room with a view.
