Join authors Guy Gunaratne, Libby Page and Kate Mahood as they showcase their debut work, each with a fresh take on life in our city.

Whether you're a budding writer yourself or simply interested in the creative processes of others, this night will focus on providing insight into how these authors write, and what it's like to be an author at the start of your career.

In Our Mad and Furious City by Guy Gunaratne - Inspired by his work as video journalist and documentary filmmaker, this searing portrait of 48 hours on a London council estate follows three friends in the wake of the murder of a British soldier as rioting sweeps the city.

The Lido by Libby Page - Written while working in marketing and moonlighting as a writer, Libby Page’s debut follows the struggle of friends Kate and Rosemary as they grapple with the world and each other to save a local landmark. A joyous and uplifting novel about the importance of friendship, the value of community, and how ordinary people can protect the things they love.

Entanglement by Katy Mahood - A rhythmic and captivating novel, interweaving the stories of two families over 30 years, from the 1970’s to near present day. Exploring the choices and encounters that make up a lifetime and reminding us just how closely we are all connected.

Chairing the evening will be author and journalist Hannah Beckerman.
