Queer Perspectives resident artist Sadie Lee talks to her special guest Christopher Biggins about works in the Collection which have a personal resonance for him.

Christopher Biggins (often referred to as just ‘Biggins’) is regarded as a British ‘National Treasure’. As  an actor he has appeared in many British television classics, dramas and in theatre from Shakespeare to musicals all over the world. Throughout the 1970s Biggins made frequent appearances as a character actor in many much-loved comedy series such as Porridge, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?,Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em and the children’s TV series Rentaghost. In 1976 he memorably played the part of Nero in the BBC dramatisation of I, Claudius by Robert Graves. His varied career spans a diverse range of film roles including The Rocky Horror Picture Show; Adventures of a Plumber’s Mate and Derek Jarman’s The Tempest. Biggins is well known for his performances in pantomime, as Widow Twankey in Aladdin and Buttons in Cinderella. In 2007 he was crowned ‘King Of The Jungle’ on the ITV show I’m A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here!
