Film directors don't come much cooler than Jim Jarmusch. Go deeper into the mind of a genius with film critic and BFI programmer Geoff Andrew

In this lavishly illustrated talk Geoff Andrew will look at the characteristic qualities that make the cinema of Jim Jarmusch so thematically and stylistically distinctive, and examine how Jarmusch's highly eclectic cinephilia has resulted in his own work frequently paying homage to the directors he admires. There will be clips both from Jarmusch's own films and from other movies by auteurs whose influence he has acknowledged.

Geoff Andrew is senior film programmer at London’s BFI Southbank and a regular contributor to Sight & Sound. He was for many years film editor of Time Out London and has written, contributed to, and edited numerous books on film. He has lectured on various cinematic subjects and has a particular interest in French film. In March 2009, the French government made him a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
