Inspired by the missing eleven days of Agatha Christie’s life in 1926, The Detective Show dives into the world of all things murder mystery.

Fresh from a run at San Francisco’s Southside Theatre, the UK’s longest-running experimental theatre group People Show returns to London with its 121st show since People Show 1 in 1966.

Funny, frightening and ferocious, People Show 121: The Detective Show is at the Old Red Lion Theatre in Islington from 15 October to 2 November.

There has been A Murder - but there’s no body, no weapon and no motive. There is A Suspect who says he’s innocent but can only remember three things – he is a compulsive gambler, he’s in love with an Agatha Christie tour guide and he thinks he might be a character in a detective novel. Fictional and real lives merge, riddles are solved but the case files remain open.

The Detective Show is a three-hander co-devised and performed by People Show co-founder Mark Long, Fiona Creese and Gareth Brierley. It is directed by Jessica Worrall with original music by George Khan and lighting by Chahine Yavroyan. People Show has performed all over the world in streets, fields, night clubs, telephone boxes, toilets, parks, trains, glasshouses and even, like now, in theatres. People Show is a collaborative art form. Each show is the unique sum of the imaginations of the people involved in creating it. The company’s non-autocratic ethos is as relevant today as it was in the beginning.
