From Mike Bartlett, the writer of The 47th and the smash-hit TV drama Doctor Foster, An Intervention is about what happens when you don’t see eye to eye with the people you love the most.
22 July - 13 August
They’ve always been best friends. Well, friends anyway. Do grown-ups really have best friends? Then one goes on the anti-war protest, and one doesn’t. One feels let down, one feels justified. One feels abandoned, one feels attacked. One gets spectacularly drunk, one tries to change their life.
An Intervention is about needing one another, and failing one another. It’s about being honest and being outrageous. It might just be what we all need right now.
"The in-demand Mike Bartlett provocatively questions our responsibilities as friends and citizens… a funny, sad play about the need to look after each other… a work that reminds you to call that neglected friend." The Guardian
An Intervention continues Greenwich Theatre’s return to high-profile in-house production, following acclaimed productions of Steven Berkoff’s The Secret Love Life Of Ophelia featuring Helen Mirren, Caryl Churchill’s Bad Nights and Odd Days starring Paul McGann, and most recently the rare revival of Michael Frayn’s Alarms and Excursions.
