Label launch with live music from leftfield song-based electro from Lord Skywave, alt-pop masters Barringtone & slacker passion spurting from Wet Paint + Little Boots & resident DJ's to rock your fucking socks off! Barry Dobbin now performing – with the aid of an amanuensis – alongside Connan Coolidge and Boomer Opperman under the name of Barringtone, delivering his ludic observations on anything from municipal architecture to animal husbandry from the confines of his customised oxygen tent, in a style reminiscent of Brian Eno, Todd Rundgren, Devo, Pavement and with respectful nods to contemporary acts such as Ariel Pink, Palace Music and Deerhoof.
|
Also performing are Lord Skywave with their abstract and psychedelic sensibility urban sounds, sampling the songs of his grandmother Madeline Dring. Her old ’78 reel-to-reel recordings have played a particular part on Skywave’s record. Expect to hear hints of Jamie Lidell, Tim Hardin, Brian Wilson and Serge Gainsbourg.
Wet Paint make music governed by a simple premise - whatever you do, make sure that it’s LOUD! Their surging guitars, irreverent lyrics and deceptively simple melodies are all driven by the likes of Pavement, Dinosaur Jr and Pixies.
To top the evening off, DJ'S - Little Boots, Dave P & JDH (Fixed NYC) & This Is Music DJs go crazy on the decks.
