It's the 8th London Short Film Festival and tonights cosy little party is the best place to meet like-minded film fanatics and enjoy some music and visuals, with guest performers Ladyscraper and Sculpture live and DJ duties from Skill Wizard, Luke Seomore and Joseph Bull.

LADYSCRAPER (live)

Ladyscraper (Wrong Music) has been taking his own particular brand of chaos around the globe over the years, his sound developing from the early days of simple drum machines and synths through a big pile of distortion pedals. Now, in the present day, he is producing crushing gabba/ breakcore infused with slabs of metal and riffage, with the odd bleep and squeak thrown in for good measure. His latest releases move from doom through to ultra bpm breakcore and back to doom, to gabba and maybe even touching on IDM! All packaged neatly with a chunk of punk attitude.

SCULPTURE (live)

Sculpture is an audio-visual performance duo. Reuben Sutherland ‘DJs’ with home-made zoetropic discs, intricate concentric rings of illustrated frames, projecting fragments of looping images at 33.3, 45 and 78 rpm — pre-Edisonian imaging technology combined with a digital video camera. Dan Hayhurst deploys prepared audio material (found tapes, lo-fi electronics, computer programming, and analogue noise) across ¼ inch tape loops, hardware sampler, cassette walkman and CDJ deck. Sculpture cross-fertilises analogue and digital techniques to generate new sonic and visual agglomerates. Influenced equally by avant-garde film and Looney Tunes, DIY musique concrete and dancefloor dynamics, the result is unique and irrepressible.

SKILL WIZARD (DJ set)

Marek (Skill Wizard) immersed himself in role-playing games and heavy metal as a youngster. Starting with the wizard friendly tunes of Sabbath, Zeppelin and Uriah Heep, he swiftly moved to the heavier ends of metal and remained there. His free Skill Wizard nights have aimed to support the growing ‘true metal’ and doom scene for four years now, mainly at The Old Blue Last and The Underworld in Camden. Marek also co-runs the Darkthrone-curated Live Evil Festival and the weekly free-entry cult ‘Film Club’ at The Alibi in Dalston.

LUKE SEOMORE, JOSEPH BULL & LIZ (DJ sets)

London based filmmakers Luke Seomore and Joseph Bull have a background in making short films, music videos, art installations and documentaries. They directed their debut feature documentary ISOLATION in 2009 to critical acclaim. Their latest project SOLACE features in this year’s LSFF. The duo have worked with the likes of Wild Beasts, Tricky, Liquid Liquid and The Last Shadow Puppets. For the last 14 years, London-based DJ Liz has played at various bars, clubs and private parties across Europe and beyond. Her music policy is influenced by her love of the sounds of Detroit Techno and early Chicago House.
