Expect an evening of the joyful, the serious and mostly the absurd!

Featuring:

Frank Chickens - Think joyful songs, stories, costume changes, video visuals and a cast of thousands(kind of!)! From 80s fame with classic hit “We are Ninja - No Geisha!” they toured the world with Billy Bragg & The Smiths, appeared on Channel 4, gained a Perrier nomination and were deserving winners of The Edinburgh Festival Comedy Gods Award! Frank Chickens are a legendary performance troupe and they must be seen to be believed!

Hibiki Ichikawa and Akari Mochizuki -

Don't miss a rare performance of traditional Japanese music in the Uk from these two masters of the art. Hibiki is a player of the Tsugaru Shamisen, a traditional 3-stringed Japanese instrument rarely heard in Europe. Akari is a Japanese Enka & Minyo folk singer from Yamaguchi prefecture. They have played for the Emperor’s birthday in the past but now they play for you coz you're just as important!

Kamura Obscura  - Live music from these guys! founder member Atsuko started out in Mizutama Shobodan (Polkadot Fire Brigade) one of Japan's first all female punk bands. Now she incorporates Enka, Chanson, vocal improvisation into the sound of this Japan/uk combo. K- Beat -

Get your Beat-Takeshi on! With the Korean drummers of Soas... Pow!

Richard Dedomenici  -

Mr. Dedomenici shall be your host for the night - He shall be the Godzilla Of Goodness! Grrrr! When not being Godzilla with a mic he is an artist who makes work that’s social, joyful, topical and political - although rarely simultaneously. He specialises in urban-absurdist interventions! Cos someone’s gotta do it!

DJ Gaikokuchan-Man -

Soundtracking the early part of the evening with vintage Showa period records randomly selected from a collection hunted out in the flea markets of Edo while working with Fuji Rock Festival. Perfect listening for a start of the night sake! Kanpai!

DJ Toshi Toshi -

The Edo Empress Taking us into the Floating World of the night with a fine selection of East meets West vintage vinyl sounds from the Rock to the Roll and the Ska to the Enka!

See you there and remember "You Are Ninja! - No Geisha!"
