Sumie's music is typical of Bella Union's trademark less-is-more sound.

You might know her sister Yukimi who fronts electro-pop outfit Little Dragon. Sumie herself is currently touring with the fantastic Coco Rosie, so if you just a musician by the company they keep, we're expecting great things.

Her debut album has a micture of influences. Befitting Sumie’s bloodline (Swedish mother, Japanese father), it fits both current Scandinavian and Japanese folk strains. “I have always thought that the cultural differences are very interesting,” she says. “My way of doing things definitely carries the duality of both cultures.”
