This Cumbrian ballad singer is rapidly making a name for herself performing original and traditional material in a contemporary style with great depth and beauty.
In 2012 Maz released her enchanting debut album, Upon A Stranger Shore. More recently, she has supported The Demon Barbers on a sell-out national tour and been performing music by Laura Marling in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s As You Like It.
Nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award in 2013, Maz is currently the recipient of a year-long BBC Performing Art Fund Fellowship with the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS).
This gig will draw together a mixture of traditional interpretations and self-penned songs that will feature on her new album. Maz will be joined by folk troubadours Jim Moray, Elly Lucas and multi-instrumentalist Rowan Rheingans of Lady Maisery. Promoted by EFDSS, supported by the BBC Performing Arts Fund, in association with Songlines
