Dalston’s homegrown, multi-venue fest returns, bringing together all the nooks and crannies of the neighbourhood for a day/night takeover.

Presenting heroes local and adopted, the programme toasts the E8 manor, ever-endowed with more music and arts venues than pretty much any corner of the capital.  Alongside Dalston mainstays, festivities sprawl across everything from galleries and underground bunkers, to ocakbasi basements, car parks-cum-block parties and rooftop gigs, transforming the high street’s humdrum.  Record labels, art collectives, promoters and local eateries all weigh-in, for a 16-hour stomp around Kingsland.

Line up includes:

Antepop (a.k.a. Tom Durston) - the founder of Dalston electronic music and visual art magazine, Inverted Audio. An uncompromising vinyl devotee, he’s a DJing regular on the London circuit both with Inverted Audio and flying solo, spinning his techno and deep house sets alongside such luminaries as Luke Abbott, Coma, and Ulrich Schnauss.

Portico - it might seem obvious to say that the Portico of today is not the Portico of ten years ago, but few contemporary bands have experienced a transformation quite so marked over the course of four albums. Departing from the experimental jazz stylings of their Mercury nominated debut, Knee-Deep in the North Sea, today they’ve developed into a vocal featuring electronica group. The departure of Keir Vine, who in turn had replaced Nick Mulvey, removed the hang (a UFO shaped steel drum) from their back line and the ‘Quartet’ from their name. The sea change this spelt in their sound was confirmed by their signing to Ninja Tune this year for new album, Living Fields. Despite all this, that strand of pensive song writing with an undercurrent of chaos remains their defining feature.

Island Life - In their 56th year of frontier pushing existence, Island Records have officially launched the new series of Island Life events. Drawing on their ever eclectic pool of groundbreaking artists and friends, the label have begun by staging a rotation of nights on opposing coasts in New York and Los Angeles, with a view to expand the format across the country and beyond. With a huge all-nighter at SXSW already ticked off, a partnership with Land Of Kings festival was the next obvious port of call.

Plus: Art Macabre Death Drawing, The Lost Picture Show, Dalston Darlings, London Short Film Festival, The Nest Collective and loads more. Full line up here.
