Bolivian-American sound artist and collagist Elysia Crampton presents her conceptual piece, Dissolution of The Sovereign: A Time Slide Into The Future.
Her EPs, American Drift and Demon City, have established Crampton as a skillful collagist and architect of surreal sonic landscapes. She melds together samples from classical, South American dance music, crunk, trap, spoken word and video game sounds – often with considerable dancefloor heft.
Demon City, released in July 2016, featured guest appearances from like-minded electronic artists Chino Amobi, Why Be, Rabit and Lexxi. Dissolution of the Sovereign is a complementary live experience to Demon City, ‘bridging Aymara oral history tradition/theatre legacy with Elysia’s own trans-femme abolitionist grasp of futurity’.
Presented as part of Thirty Three Thirty Three’s series of events at South London Gallery, highlighting exploratory music and intermedia performances.
Elysia's live performance will precede a DJ set at Oscillate Wildly presents: Janus & NON at Corsica Studios that evening. A 20% discount to this event will be provided on booking a ticket to her performance at SLG.
