To mark the annual occasion of World Goth Day, cultural channel Nowness in association with the London Short Film Festival to present 5 Days of Darkness.
To mark World Goth Day (which emerges out of the dewy spring ground like a field of narcissi on 22 May, this year culture channel Nowness designed five days of dark and seditious programming that sheds light on this greatly cherished, though oft-misunderstood subculture.
Now is the perfect time for goth—which first emerged in late 70s Britain and has since scattered across the world as a sensibility that encourages considered dissent, non-binary inclusion, personal expression, arch camp, and creativity from the margins—to rise triumphant. This programme, presented in association with London Short Film Festival, offers some highlights from this special collection.
Programmed by Marley Hansen.
