A dreamlike comedy/drama set in an “imaginary” Sicily, where a famous director becomes embroiled in filming the wedding of a rich man’s beautiful daughter.

Famous director Franco Elica (played sublimely by the wonderful Castellitto) flees from scandal in Rome to Sicily, and becomes embroiled in filming the wedding of a rich man’s beautiful daughter. Bellocchio is at his most satirical and playful with this movie-within-a-movie, which also offers a brilliant deliberation on the art of cinema and the profession of filmmaking.

Plus, watch The Fight (La lotta), Bellocchio's new short, based on a Bulgarian poem that looks back at WWII.

Q: Not all that long ago, the capital of Sicily was elected the European Capital of Street Food. Forbes magazine deemed Palermo to have the ‘tastiest and most varied street food’ and was listed among the top five in the world. Among the delicacies offered by street vendors was the traditional Sicilian Arancini, Pannele and their own style of pizza called Sfincione. However, there were a few other options, for those with, lets say, a stronger stomach. One of these options was Pani ca Meusa. The question is, what is English translation of Pani ca Meusa?
A: .1) Intestines on a Skewer .2) Soft-Boiled Fetal Duck in Ciabatta .3) Bread with Spleen .4) Heart on Stick
