A course to extend the pleasure in the latest screenings from France by extending your knowledge of what came before.

Single session ticket for the fifth week of the six-week course An introduction to French cinema. Tickets are £12 / £11 Concessions / £10 Members. The class will run from 7-9pm in the Education Room on the first floor.

There is a strong and lively French Cinema industry and this 6 week course will create a context for the French films which are regularly exhibited in Britain.

Through extracts and full length features we will view and discuss French Cinema from Jean Vigo’s experimental shorts and L’ATALANTE via Poetic Realism in the late 1930s and The French New Wave in the 1960s to recent French Films which deal with life in contemporary France.

About the Course Leader: 

John Digance has a long term interest in the still/moving relationship. He is a 0.5 Senior lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire and has taught successful academic and creative courses in the University and Community Education Sectors in Britain, Sweden, Berlin, Budapest and China.
