The first festival to tap into the Hackney's creative hot bed of filmmaking talent.
The first annual Hackney Film Festival will take place the weekend of 18th-19th September. The festival will highlight the vast amount of London’s filmmakers who live or work in the Hackney area by presenting a programme exclusively consisting of work by Hackney-based directors.
Saturday 18th September,
will see the festival open with ‘Kingsland’, the BAFTA-nominated short film from award-winning screenwriter and director - and long-time Hackney resident - Tony Grisoni, as part of an eclectic screening of short narrative, documentary and animated films at the Rio Cinema on Kingsland Rd at 3.45pm.
The first annual Hackney Film Festival opens with an eclectic mix of narrative film, animation and documentary. The programme consists exclusively of films born from the creative talents of Hackney-based film makers. Tickets £5. Buy here or on the door.
KINGSLAND

What to expect from the rest of the fest?
An equally diverse screening will show the following day, Sunday 19th September at 3pm at The Drop@Three Crowns on Stoke Newington High Street.
As well as the two screening events, there will also be an evening of live audio-visual performances on the Saturday starting at 7pm at The Others.
The evening will include the acclaimed 80 minutes ‘True Fictions’ live cinema performance by The Light Surgeons, and live spectacles by Hackney-based visual artists Quayola and Tom White.
