Floating Points presents the premiere screening of his new film, which chronicles time recording with his band in the endless expanse of the Mojave Desert.

Floating Points originator Sam Shepherd took the band to the Mojave Desert in August 2016 to rehearse and record ahead of their US tour. This film, Reflections (30 min dir Anna Diaz Ortuño), documents the time they spent and the music they were inspired to write there – showcasing the distinctive sonic tapestry they were able to capture in the most unusual of recording spaces. ‘While we were out playing and exploring the area around us - the sound reflecting from the rocks, the sound of the wind between them, complete stillness at night and packs of roaming coyotes in the distance, it became apparent that we could use this as its own unique recording environment.’ Sam Shepherd.

The screening – which will last about 30 minutes – will be followed by a 45-minute Q+A with Shepherd and the director hosted by Raj Chaudhuri, which along with the film will be streamed live by Boiler Room.
