Find beauty (and music) in destruction with an impressive and affecting documentary.

A long time before hurricane Katrina, the Mississipi river flood of 1929 caused devastation in the USA. Breaking its banks in 145 places, the river overran 27,000 miles of towns and farmland. The consequences eventually led to the mass migration or America's rural southerners to the northern cities and the roots of blues, R&B and Rock and Roll.

Filmmaker and multimedia artist Bill Morrison has created a mesmerising documentary from from hours of richly textured archive footage from 1927. Best known for his experimental collage film Decasia (2002), his films have been screened at festivals, museums and concert halls worldwide, including the Sundance Film Festival, the Orphan film Symposium, The Tate Modern, London, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles.

The Mississippi River Flood of 1927 was the most destructive in American history
