On August 7th, 1974, a young Frenchman named Philippe Petit stepped out on a wire illegally rigged between the New York World Trade Centre's twin towers...

He danced on the wire with no safety net for almost an hour, crossing it a total of eight times before being arrested.

Man on Wire tells the breath-taking story of the now legendary tightrope walk. Mixing Petit's personal footage from the event with new re-enactments, highlighting how he overcame seemingly insurmountable challenges to achieve what became known as the "artistic crime of the century".

Simon Chinn is a double Academy Award winning producer, responsible for some of the most successful feature documentaries of recent years. Since Man on Wire he's produced Project Nim which opened the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for a BAFTA. Searching for Sugarman also opened the Sundance Film Festival the following year and went on to become one of the most commercially successful documentaries in the cinema of recent years. Among more than thirty international awards, it won the BAFTA and the Academy Award for Best Documentary.
