Presenting a mixed programme of thrilling, energetic and athletic pieces, Rambert return after a 13-year absence with Christopher Bruce’s electrifying Rooster, a celebration of the swinging sixties.
20 - 24 May.
Celebrated as “the most musical, muscular, versatile contemporary dance troupe in Britain”, Rambert returns with an eclectic programme showcasing the dancers’ extraordinary athleticism.
Making a much anticipated return after a 13-year absence, Rambert presents Rooster, Christopher Bruce’s electrifying, exploration of the vibrancy of the 1960s music scene, set to the music of the Rolling Stones.
The performance also features Four Elements, another classic by dance legend Lucinda Childs. Renowned for her sleek minimalism and for turning the slightest movements into an intricate choreographic masterpiece.
Completing the programme is Sounddance, a seminal piece by late master of dance Merce Cunningham, and Dutiful Ducks. First created for Michael Clark in 1982, Richard Alston’s short, sharp and witty solo is set to a tongue-twisting soundtext by Charles Amirkhanian. With live music by the Rambert Orchestra.
