Earlier this year NMC created NEST, a unique collaboration between dance, architecture, animation and interactive light technologies inspired by Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey.
Commissioned by new arts organisation Stone Nest, NMC produced a multi-sensory promenade performance marking the end of a period of inactivity for the former Welsh Chapel on Shaftesbury Avenue.
From 10 - 20 of September Testbed 1 and Doodle Bar will play host to Part 2 of the project - NEST The Installation, with performance footage, architecture, music, a Q&A session and excerpts of the dance performed in this spacious 650sq metre ex-diary warehouse.
The installation will be a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of the performance if you missed your chance to get a ticket in July. It will give a rare insight into the creative process between choreographers from NMC, architects from Studio Weave, visual artists from Marshmallow Laser Feast, composers Anna Meredith and Chris Mayo, designer Georg Mayer-Wiel, animation artist Filipe Alcada and theatre director Richard Twyman.
You will also meet members of our two engagement programs – The New Movers will perform excerpts of the work alongside performers from NMC during the opening event while our young film makers, mentored by Annette Porter and Deborah Galloway will be screening their short films inspired by the project and the themes of The Odyssey.
Daily opening hours: 11 - 20 September 2PM - 8PM
