We are all Pussy Riot

'One of my dreams was to combine art and politics and Pussy Riot is the result of that.'

Our Guest Editor this week is activist, Pussy Riot member and freedom fighter Maria 'Masha' Alyokhina. Pussy Riot's 2012 performance of 'Punk Prayer' in a Moscow cathedral landed her nearly two years in prison for challenging Putin's politics.

Masha has continued with her political art, creating Riot Days - a kind of manifesto in the forms of a new book and live show - a testament to the power of resistance and activism. Read her interview with Rhyannon Styles here, ahead of the book launch (14 September) and live event at the Islington Assembly Hall (17 November).

Who else is doing things differently? East London's independently run Genesis Cinema, that's who! Michael Hall tells us how.

If you were to ask performer Peter Clements how he created Frau Welt, he'd simply say: 'I'd sit on trains muttering, in a thick German accent, tall tales of Berlin, Broadway and Angela Lansbury. I was desperate to make a solo show.' He'd then go on to tell you with flare and panache about the makings of the grande dame! Read the true story here.
