Speaking Truth to Power

Our Guest Editor this week is recognised as one of a handful of artists who defined performance art as we know it today.

We're talking about the iconic New Yorker Penny Arcade - a former Warhol superstar and contemporary of Debbie Harry, Patti Smith, Quentin Crisp and a whole bunch of others from the fringes of the urbane underground.

This November she's bringing her new award winning show 'Longing Lasts Longer' to Soho Theatre. Theatre Producer Jeremy Goldstein from London Artists Projects speaks Truth to Power with Penny in this candid interview. They talk realism, nostalgia, gentrification, Bad Reputation, and Love!

Among her Top-4 recommended events are SPILL Festival (more on this next week), Old Dears at Chelsea Theatre (via Live Art Development Agency - more from them in a few weeks time), and World AIDS Day - on 1st December.

In our Magazine section, we also talk to Susie Miller, the new Artistic Director of Outside Edge Theatre (who have Mark Rylance as Associate Director) about their current production at Hoxton Hall (that infamous music hall doing good for its community) - a wild production about addiction.

Competitions - we have tickets for 'What is the Art of Mindfulness?' with Dr Tamara Russell (supported by Run Riot Projects and Culture at King's College London).

As for the best of the rest - scroll and click! Plenty coming up!

Peace and love to one and all! Bottoms up! RRxx
