As-salamu alaykum

Just yards away from the centre of British politics is Trafalgar Studios, home to Trafalgar Transformed - the rough and ready theatre with a penchant for the unashamedly energetic, atmospheric, cinematic and comedic, albeit with a witty political twist. At its helm is their artistic director and our Guest Editor Jamie Lloyd. His latest productions have included The Hothouse with Simon Russell Beale and John Simm; Macbeth with James McAvoy, and Richard III with Martin Freeman.

He's now about to launch East is East starring Jane Horrocks. The hilarious play is set in 70's Salford, where we witness the household tensions between Horrocks, her strict muslim husband "Genghis" (Ayub Khan Din), and their freedom seeking children unfurl. In our interview he tells us more about the production, the venue and his bargain £15 Monday performances.

Jamie's Top-4 tips include the 10th International Tattoo Convention; David Cronenberg's Maps to the Stars; and the International Ibsen Season at the Barbican.

We have some rollickingly hot competitions this week! First up is a bumper one - winning several special edition Jim Jarmusch DVD's, a book, poster - AND - BFI Membership! Second up is winning a pair of tickets to the freaky Dark Circus party at the Bloomsbury Ballroom - expect dirty decadence from the people behind Torture Garden and Belle Epoque! We're utterly aghast at what could be the sickest threesome ever - in all time - yes - what would happen if the Grand Dame of political drag David Hoyle got creative with musical Cabaret duo Bourgeois & Maurice? Blimey! Win (or book) tickets to find out! Finally - something for December - we have the all-theatrical, wild eyed New York Gypsy punks Gogol Bordello at the Roundhouse! This'll be a wild one - crack that whip!

As for the best of the rest, here's our quick fire round: KP Brehmer at Raven Row / Cultural Activism / The London Art Book Fair / Third Angel / Ida Barr / Fun Palaces / The Last Ever Slumbarave / Conrad Shawcross / Marmaduke Dando / and Skate at Somerset House!

Where can I find out more about what's going on? You're not a member of Run-Riot? What are you waiting for - sign up to the free newsletter and we'll share our top tips with you. Easy.

Here's to a banging week! Bottoms up! RRxx
