#MusicDeclaresEmergency

On Friday 12 July the music industry declared a climate and ecological emergency. Artists, labels, venues and promoters across the UK have joined together via the newly formed Music Declares Emergency (MDE) to sign a declaration of Climate and Ecological Emergency.

Radiohead, Sam Lee, Universal Music UK, Beggars Group, Village Underground, Warp, Giles Peterson, Foals, Hot Chip, Festival Republic - and a whole load more - have signed up (you can read the signaturies so far, here).

Which brings us to our Guest Editor this week - the co-founder of Music Declares Emergency - Fay Milton, drummer of Savages, and composer, producer, filmmaker, and DJ.

In Fay's Run-Riot interview she talks to Chiara Badiali from the environmental charity Julie's Bicycle. They talk MDE, NASA, the do-able action we can all make right now to help the environment, making documentaries while on tour with Savages, Fays new project 180db (with Ayse Hassan) - and of course the Independent Label Market (Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross, Saturday 13 July) where Fay and MDE will have a stall.

Here's to wishing you a banging weekend dear Players! Bottoms up! RR xx
