Let's Get Weird

What a week! Has Katie Hopkins packed her bags yet? Oh, we do hope so! No doubt you're ready for the ballot box, braced for the next episode - what ever it may bring.

It could all get a bit weird, in a good way. Our Guest Editors this week are the comedians Robin and Partridge. For election week, some surreal comedy is most apt, wouldn't you say?

Robin and Partridge are hard to pin down. They're very good at being funny, smart and charming.

They're doing rather well at it. You may have seen them hosting the main festival stage at Secret Garden Party, or Shangri'la in Glastonbury, Rebel Bingo, Tough Mudder or The Moth. Or you may have seen their sketches on BBC 3, or heard them on Radio 4's NewsJack. But then, maybe you haven't. Either way - it's time to get to know the chaps behind the acts. We chatted to them about festivals, comedy and creative partnerships (and a little politics) - read the interview.

How to describe their work? Some say their double-act is characterised by the creative exuberance of the mind liberated from its ostensibly ordinary fetters. Yes, we're talking 'psychedelic comedy' (coined by Robin).

They've honed their turn into a tight set fuelled from festival antics. The much anticipated result is 'Let's Get Weird' - coming to the Arcola Theatre (Dalston) on Sunday 24 May. Catch them before they go to Edinburgh, and beyond!

In our Magazine section watch cult musician, Bishi's latest epic music video 'Look the Other Way' feat Tony Benn (she'll be performing at the Southbank, 25 May). Believe that a free press is a cornerstone of democracy? Want to challenge Murdoch's media spin? Join John Cleese and Avaaz in their campaign to see the next government action the Leveson Royal Charter Declaration.

Reviews - two great comedy nights - the satirist Andy Zaltzman (he's doing an election special at the Udderbelly, 7 May), and the all-time great monthly Knock2Bag Comedy Night featuring the legendary Reginald D Hunter and pals.

Looking for a change of job? Here are a few: Royal Academy Magazine (Assistant Editor), Garden Museum (Retail and Front of House Supervisor), Royal Ballet (Physiotherapist), and Hampstead Theatre (Marketing Assistant).

As for the Best of the Rest - party at Hips Tits Lips (The Old Bath House), Rebel Bingo, or The Rite of Spring Ball; go petting at the Muddy Dog Challenge, or dating at 2 Degrees Festival; check out the best jumble sale ever - Rumble In the Jumble; get involved with Cardboardia (an independent state!); or join right-on theatre company Cardboard Citizens for Benefit; see resident ROH choreographer Wayne MacGregor's latest full length piece inspired by Virginia Woolf; or listen to award winning husband and wife duo Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaimann.

As for the political stuff - pop along to The Poetry Army at Canada Water Culture Space, or All-Night Election Giggle at the BGWMC with Marcus Brigstocke; or attend the screening of We Are Many followed by discussion hosted by Jon Snow; or, attend IQ2's Digital Summit featuring the Editor of the Guardian, the Founder of Wikipedia, the President of Tinder and an Oxford Professor!
