Fat Blokes

Could be having a better day? Here's a show for any of us who have looked in the mirror and thought we are not quite enough - in any shape or form. This isn't some snowflake indulgence. Far from it. Here's a gutsy show with balls. Fat Blokes at the Southbank Centre is a production by performance art legend Scottee, with witty choreography from dance icon Lea Anderson.

You got it. We're delighted that Scottee is our Guest Editor this week. In his Run-Riot interview with Jayson Mansaray, they chat about challenging the status quo, not succumbing to some of societies dysfunctions, and simply making the most of your lot.

In our Magazine section former BBC and CNN journalist Osman Baig writes about taking to the stage with his topical production Fake News (Waterloo East Theatre).

Buy the t-shirt! Last month three activists were thrown into prison for a peaceful protest against fracking by Judge Robert Altham (the chap with family links to the oil and gas industry). To claim the Creative Industries are rushing to the rescue is a bit steep, but you can buy a fashionable t-shirt with a punchy illustration on it to help raise funds to #FreeTheThree. If you're a creative type with a cutting PR campaign supporting this cause, do let us know. We're with you.

Start 'em young! Know any pesky 12-15 year olds ripe for conscription? Performance artist Anton Mirto's project The Army at the Whitechapel Gallery is recruiting now. Just to be clear: this is a contemporary performance project. Culture darling, culture!

For more culture gems and competitions (see Afro-inspired choreography at Startin' Point Festival at The Place; Moot Moot at The Yard Theatre; comedy icon, Tracey Ullman at the BFI Southbank; and Dr Carnesky's Incredible Bleeding Woman at Soho Theatre) - browse our Offers page. As for the best of the rest - rummage through our genre-bending pages where you'll find plenty of haut happenings.

Here's to wishing you a 'larged-up' week dear Players! Bottoms up! RR xx
