Dear Reader

I hope this message finds you well. Here we are with our weekly jaunt into London's cultural trove.

It's often said the simplest of ideas are the ones that strike a chord in our hearts the greatest. Here's one: the act of reading out a letter aloud. But not any old letter. Ones that capture the humour, seriousness, sadness and brilliance that infect all our lives.

The event LETTERS LIVE delivers this with great aplomb. They've gathered letters from Virginia Woolf, Queen Elizabeth II, Elvis Presley, Gandhi, Iggy Pop, and Leonardo da Vinci - to name but a few. Add to the mix Benedict Cumberbatch, Louise Brealey and friends who read them out - to an audience at the Freemasons Hall.

Charmed by it all, we invited LETTERS LIVE Managing Director and Curator Julien Planté to be our Guest Editor. In his interview, he tells us how the idea was conceived with authors Simon Garfield and Shaun Usher, and why they're celebrating the enduring power of written correspondence. He also teases out more on which letters will be read, and by whom…

Julien takes time to jot down some notes on his recommended events for us - namely Pedro Almodóvar's new film Wild Tales, Frédéric Tcheng's film Dior and I, and the launch of Nick Cave's latest project The Sick Bag Song.

In our Magazine section, we have jobs at Penned in the Margins (Sales and Marketing Coordinator), Tamasha Theatre (Finance Officer), Theatre Ad Infinitum (Costume and set designer), Hoxton Hall (Duty Manager), and Blackheath Halls (Development Officer).

As for the Best of The Rest - here are a few highlights: The Montecristo's Rock'n'Roll Circus at Wilton's Music Hall; 1920's party night Prohibition at a secret location; Anish Kapoor at Lisson Gallery; original madcap campery from The Lipsinkers at Hackney Attic; stealth-like activism with performance-thinkers Coney - in the city; and finally witty and sexy performance from GETINTHEBACKOFTHEVAN at Soho Theatre.

Where can I find out more about what's going on? You're not a member of Run-Riot? What are you waiting for - sign up to the free newsletter and we'll share our top tips with you. Easy.

Here's to a most charming week dear Players! Bottoms up! RRxx
