Broader Horizons

Joining us as Guest Editor this week is brilliant and eloquent performance maker, writer and curator Andy Field, whose latest project Lookout is being hosted next month as part of 2 Degrees Festival. The biannual festival seeks to highlight climate change issues through art and theatre, and Andy's work opens up conversation between generations to ask the question "What will our city become?" Read our interview with him here. Andy also picks his best of the festival for Run Riot - a kaleidoscopic mix of bittersweet and outrage.

Do you know your place? If you've ever had your regional accent mocked, panicked about University snobbery (where did you school?) or missed a joke because it was in Latin - perhaps you will find some comfort and wit in Dead Ink Books' new venture, a book of essays by working class people. Professor Clare Brant, of Kings College London, talks about Diaryfest and what the appeal is of scribbling down secrets and stuffing them under the bed. And Edinburgh International Festival launches a mentorship scheme.

Here's to wishing you a beautiful week and a bright future, dear Players! Chins up and chests out. RR xx
