An experimental sound and art night that performs Womxan who work with sound and performance. Featuring Venus Ex Machina, Ain Bailey, ex.sses and Lizzy Laurance.

Venus Ex Machina is a composer, sound designer and interdisciplinary artist. She has contributed sounds and music to a range of projects including releases on NON Worldwide and Optimo Music, an installation for Hyperdub, and a score for ICA & Channel 4’s short-film series, Random Acts.

Ain Bailey is a sound artist and dj. Her compositions encompass field recordings and found sounds and are inspired by ideas and reflections on silence and absence, architectural urban spaces, and feminist activism. Her electroacoustic compositions are created for a variety of forms, including multichannel and mixed media installations, moving image soundtracks, live performance and dance.

ex.sses is an experimental sound artist, writer and dj. Her work explores human perception of sound and the unspoken language of the body. Her written narratives are a combination of sci fi and personal history. Her compositions come from a range of sources predominantly field recordings creating a visceral landscapes for live performance, dance and installation.

Lizzy Laurance is a sound artist, song writer and composer. She uses field recordings, song writing and DIY technologies. She makes site specific work that blends physical, historical and imagined realities. Her current project is “Rocketman”, a body of work created at the site of the “Submarine Murder” in Copenhagen. Using her embodied experience of living on a decaying boat in the harbour of Refshaleoen as a central point of focus, this work becomes part noir thriller soundtrack, part performance art piece, interrogating the sublime and the abject; the wreckage of a love affair with toxic masculinity.
