In May, we're having a referendum on the voting system. It's a once in a generation opportunity to really change the way we relate to our politicians. Alternative Vote (AV) is better than First Past the Post because it will make our MPs work harder, force them to reach out to more people in their constituencies, and stop quite so many of them treating their role as a job for life. And if that's not enough to convince you, just look at who is on the side of the No campaign: old school Labour politicians like John Prescott and Margaret Beckett, most of the Conservative party, the BNP and Rupert Murdoch.
