The spiel: The dinosaurs return to wow a whole new audience in spectacular thrill-ride Jurassic World. The dinosaurs at Isla Nublar's Jurassic World theme park have been pulling in the crowds, and the island has recently unveiled its new attraction, a brand new, lab-created dinosaur named the Indominus Rex. The aim is to boost flagging visitor numbers. But the newly created hybrid creature - bigger and deadlier than any dinosaur that ever lived - escapes, endangering the lives of everybody on the island. This dino-sized prehistoric adventure promises to wow a whole new generation with its awesome CGI effects. Guardians of the Galaxy's Chris Pratt takes the lead role of behavioural scientist Owen, with Bryce Dallas Howard as the park's no-nonsense operations manager Claire Dearing and Vincent D'Onofrio as head of security Vic Hoskins. In the director's chair this time round is Colin Trevorrow, who gave us acclaimed independent sci-fi rom-com Safety Not Guaranteed.

Word: Digs toe deep into the ethics of genetics and cloning. Thrills spike with scaly antics. Costume and make up, good. Sound and set, impressive.

The spiel: Action man Tom Hardy plays the iconic Road Warrior in the fourth adrenaline-driven Mad Max thriller. In a stark and parched post-apocalyptic landscape, taciturn anti-hero Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) meets his shaven-headed female counterpart Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) who needs to cross the desert to get home. Writer/director George Miller revives the Mad Max series after 30 years with this hyper-kinetic chase movie. Boasting amazing visuals and an intense performance from Tom Hardy. Mad Max: Fury Road promises to be a worthy sequel to one of the all-time great action franchises. Charlize Theron (Young Adult), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Zoë Kravitz (The Divergent Series), Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) and Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley Keough also star.

Word: Simply put: an apocolyptic, ultra-violent steam punk movie. Not complex. Sandy. Not gritty. Will quickly gather dust.

The spiel: Jason Statham takes on Vin Diesel and the crew in this seventh high-octane rush of vehicular mayhem! In the previous instalment of the spectacular Fast & Furious series, everybody's favourite speed-crazed criminal crew reunited for a mission to London. Having succeeded in bringing down former British Special Forces soldier Owen Shaw, they received an amnesty for their crimes and returned to the US. But we also learned that Shaw has a brother, Deckard (Jason Statham). Now he comes gunning for Dominic (Vin Diesel), Brian (Paul Walker), Luke (Dwayne Johnson) and the rest of the gang in this jaw-droppingly stunt-packed sequel. Among the action set-pieces are an amazing parachuting car sequence and a breathtaking assault on an armoured truck! Part seven also introduces Djimon Hounsou, veteran Kurt Russell and incredible Thai martial arts superstar Tony Jaa to the rubber-burning family. Bringing a fresh perspective as director is James Wan, of 'Saw' and 'Insidious' fame.

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) return for Joss Whedon's thrilling, action-packed follow-up to mega-hit Avengers Assemble. Joining the star-heavy cast are James Spader (who voices the villainous Ultron), plus Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver and Paul Bettany as The Vision. Excitingly, the storyline also looks ahead to phase III of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the tensions between Iron Man, Captain America and Hulk escalates into all-out war.
