Interview: Miss Cakehead on Eat Your Heart Out, the 18+ Halloween cake shop

Your 18+  Halloween cake shop 'Eat Your Heart Out' is decidedly sinister; have you always been drawn to the dark side?
I know it's really messed up. I like ideas that challenge and provoke thought and which people are slightly scared to embrace at first. My blog name came from an ex boyfriend (artist Pure Evil - the blog name clearly being a massive hit unlike the relationship). Due to this name I found that people then started to send me more and more dark / evil posts so it spiralled from there. I certainly don't like the mundane or the boring - I am not the kind of person who would even dream of keeping a tissue box in my car for example.

When did you decide to make a career out of cake?
I can't make cake!!!!! I am a creative who happened to think up a series of mad ideas involving cake, Eat Your Heart Out & the PRETOX Potion, but it would simply not be possible without the cake makers. Other things I have done recently include producing a music video for Clinic which was directed by cult artist Pete Fowler (for the single I'm Aware), and even dreamt up a tweeting bike for the East Festival (The Twike). I am also currently working on an art music project which I am really excited about, but it's still secret for now!

Whats the most offensive confectionary you'll be stocking?

It's all pretty dark to be honest. I think the series of Death heads from Curly Sue Bakes will cause the most debate, but we must remember these cake makers are approaching their baking just as an artist will do when sculpting a piece. She is doing a series of five small realistic death heads (£20 each) exploring different extreme deaths; death through auto erotic asphyxiation / a prostitute who's died at hands of a client / teenager in a car crash. I find all the anatomical / gory cakes fairly untroubled to be honest, and you can't be offended by biology (as I said to the Daily Mail when we sent them a giant vagina dentata cake from Holly & the Icing).

And your favourite Halloween recipe?

Pumpkin Martini's are amazing

What will you be dressing up as this Halloween?

I am very lucky as Jane Doe Latex is loaning me a stunning couture outfit - still under wraps but I will be smelling of rubber & talc for sure!!!! There is also a human centipede cos play costume which may come out to play at some point...
