The Gig List 26 April - 2 May: Anthony Chalmers lines up the week's best London gigs

Alright folks!

Sorry we have been away for a week or two, combination of silliness that resulted in no blog up, but here's the new one!

Haven't been doing nothing though - I have been recording podcasts with my friend Gareth from ‘Bearded Magazine’. Check it out!

You can find out more about the podcast on:
...

Monday:

Monday is all about Crystal Antlers at Cargo! They are being supported by a band called Two Minute Noodles who I haven't got the first clue who they are but TWO MINUTE NOODLES. Ace band name :) And then Teeth are playing too, who are ace.

Tuesday:

Several brilliant gigs on Tuesday, British Sea Power playing their soundtrack to B&W film Man From Aran at Union Chapel is bound to be amazing.

Crippled Black Phoenix at Luminaire is one I'd like to go too, experimental, post-rock, ambient stuff.

Couple of smaller ones that could be good - Vadoinmessico at Slaughtered Lamb & The Neat at Buffalo Bar are both bands I've seen a few times and always been good!

Wednesday:

On Wed it's the launch of my Summer of shows on The Tamesis Dock which is a lovely boat in Vauxhall where I did quite some gigs last year.

Playing this one is Mary Hampton, Rachael Dadd & Emaline Delapaix. Three gorgeous folk singers and should be an ace gig.

Thursday:

Is all about Three Trapped Tigers at ICA. They are one of my favorite bands and are certain to absolutely kill it there. They’re a combination of Prog, post-rock and electronic bleep music. REALLY great!

Friday:

Not so much one-standout gig on Friday, I don't think but several goodens. Adrian Crowley at Whitechapel Art Gallery is the best one I think.

Also Django Django playing Barfly & Chew Lips at Cargo will both be fun for sure.

Saturday:

I'm certainly not going to go into all of my recommendations for Camden Crawl as that will take too long but it is on Sat/Sun and featuring TONS of ace bands.

Normally I avoid CC like the plague but it looks pretty ace this year.

If that’s not your thing, the 2nd in The Local's residency at Screen on the Green is on with Dan Michaelson & the Coastguards are playing, who are great with No Country for Old Men on afterwards.

Sunday:

Definitely want to mention the Damo Suzuki experimental music festival at Luminaire, which is a 3-day event with Damo (CAN Vocalist) improvising with lots of different musicians and support acts. That should be pretty fun... what else have we here... I'm not mentioning the massive gig of the day, which is Iggy and the Stooges & Suicide at the Forum. That will be pretty fucking immense, if it hasn’t already sold out.

Well that’s about it from me, I think! You can keep up with all my stuff on: ...

x Anthony
