The Gig List 11: Anthony Chalmers lines up the week's best London gigs

This is the new blog that tells you the sweetest London gigs for the next seven days. God don't like it, but we do. Here's the hippest thing to hit the music scene since Simon Cowell's trousers ...Anthony Chalmers

So after an utterly manic few weeks things are returning to some level on normality and I intend to chill out a bit! ACE day/night at Macbeth last night definitely doing another all dayer there :)

I actually don't have a show of my own until Sunday so I can actually go and check out some bands without being worried about the night et al.

So for tonight it's all about the brilliant Sereena Manish, they are a Scandi shoegaze type band and are REALLY good. My flatmate introduced me to them and bought their new record which is aces.
Thats at the Lexington in Angel.

Tuesday is staying at The Lexington (they do book some ace bands in there) for She Keeps Bee's! Not 100% I can make it but will certainly be a winner. Missed all of their shows last time which was a shame. Seems to be something about them that I never manage to catch them?! Apart from that Nedry at The Social will be good I would of thought.

Wednesday is down to my favorite boat for The Soft Pack with Speak & the Spells, how ace is that going to be! This is the gig of the week I think and it's on a BOAT! Big win. If thats not your thing The London Word Festival is on which is a must go on one of these nights. On Wed Josie Long, Adem, Picture Trail and lots more are at Dalston Works which will be fantastic no doubt.

Thursday it's got to be Panda Bear at Heaven. Hopefully showcasing new material, his only album which he released in 2008 I think was fantastic. Thats the Panda Bear from Animal Collective's solo project if you haven't come across him before. Got a feeling it might be sold out though so if you haven't got a ticket it's back to The Lexington for Lawrence Arabia & Cate Le Bon!

Friday is a gobsmacking lineup at The Windmill in Brixton with Pete and the Pirates & Hjaltalin! NO IDEA how they booked that as both of that can sell out the venue several times over but what can you say! I think there is still tickets too be good times. Might even offer to DJ!

Saturday afternoon is the weekly ROTA (Rough Trade sponsered afternoon shows) at the Notting Hill Arts Club and Stairs to Korea & Yuck are playing who are both ace! Think doors are bout 2 for that. Then in the evening the big show
is Grizzley Bear and Beach House and the Roundhouse but thats long since sold out so not much point recomennding that! There is a few others nothing MUST see in my opinion but Memory Tapes at Cargo or Blood Red Shoes at The Garage will both be good gigs.

Sunday it's one of mine! I'm curating a Sunday Social at the Old Queens Head which is a lovely venue. Nice comfy sofa's and great roast dinner to be had! Playing live is The Tailors, Laura Hocking, Brooke Parrott, Fire Stations and a special guest headliner! Will be a couple more acts to be announced as well and Team Run Riot is going to be DJing :) That starts at 3:00 and is free entry.

Well I think thats about it, got a good feeling about this week! :)

x Anthony
