Anthony's weekly gig recommendation blog!

Okay so I did one of these and then proceeded to bugger off out of London for 2 weeks cheffing in Sussex (I used to be a cook, was covering for a mate) but now things

are back to usual and I promise this will once again be a weekly blog!

Think going to do it from Monday to Sunday makes sense.... although this Sunday Im down Old Queens Head for a lovely all dayer, great roasts, bands, drinks, sofa's et al so can recommend that :)

This week is one of the best week for gigs that your ever likely to see so if none of this is to your taste then we might have some musical differences!

Monday 18th October:

So this Monday is one of the gigs I'm most excited about for the whole year and thats Soap & Skin at Union Chapel.

I think she's also playing with an Orchestra, she's an Austrian singer and her album was probably my favorite album of last year. At the end

of the year it certainly topped my poll!

And it's at Union Chapel probably the most beautiful venue in town. Massive winner.

Tuesday 19th October:

Tuesday I'm down the newly opened The Nest in Dalston/Stokey. It's basically Bardens Boudior with a total refit and new owners but your know where it is at least.

Coming down for their first London show is the amazing White Ring from the US supported by D/R/U/G/S from Manchester and Robert Disaro DJ set from Texas.

It's dark atmospheric electronica for fans of Salem & Fever Ray.

Wednesday 20th October:

It's one of mine on the Wednesday and it's a totally incredible show with Drum Eyes, Nedry, Rocketnumbernine, Becoming Real, Devilman & Husband at Corsica Studios.

For fans of heavier music, electronica, dub, post-dubstep, bass music and generally interesting stuff.

We also have Gareth Bearded, Mike Keelin & Bo Ningen guys DJing plus a special set from Dead Fader after the acts.

Thursday 21st October:

Im down DJing the opening night of The Garage festival (at The Garage unsurprisingly) with Chrome Hoof and Does it Offend You Yeah! which I think should be a pretty fun gig. Will certainly be some good tunes from me anyway!

Apart from that it's Michael Reuter (of Neu! ) and friends playing at The Barbican with Seefeel supporting which should be amazing. I'm seeing Michael Reuter on the  weekend at Supersonic festival and Seefeel were brilliant at ICA last month.

Friday 22nd October:

Going to have to actually look at whats on on the weekend as I'm going to be..... at Supersonic Festival in Birmingam which I utterly can't wait for!!?!

But as far as gig recommendations go I think Youthless playing at The Victoria in Dalston (brand new venue) for the launch of One Bird Records should be

a big winner.

Apart from that Darkstar are instore at Rough Trade which is definitely worth checking out.

Saturday 23rd October:

In the afternoon there is a winning gig at the Rough Trade in the Afternoon institution at the Notting Hill Arts Club with Youthless, Bitches and Hocus Tokus which is free and well worth going too.

In the evening These New Puritans playing with the Britten Sinfonia Orchestra at The Barbican with support from Darkstar should be a pretty special evening.

Also just seen that Pete and the Pirates are playing at Scala. Always had a massive soft spot for them great indie pop!

Sunday 24th October:

And lastly we have one of my favorite bands in world Chimes & Bells are over from Denmark supporting Trentmoller at The Roundhouse which should be pretty amazing.

Think thats about it!

Hope you can make it to a show or two and have a great weekend.

x Anthony
