Campfire talk: iconic graphic designer talks about how he helped to establish and promote a new design-driven culture, which has played a central role in defining today’s media market.

Malcolm Garrett is the Master of Faculty at the Royal Designers for Industry – a pioneer of digital design who has collaborated and designed record sleeves for the likes of Duran Duran, Culture Club, Boy George and Buzzcocks. He is one of Britain’s best-known and most influential graphic designers.

Malcolm was an early champion of digital design, and in 1990 he transformed his Shoreditch studio into the first entirely digital creative space in the UK. His recent work is all about joining up the dots – combining digital technology, interactive design and an aesthetic that balances form with function to produce arresting and effective works of ‘connected communications’.

In his own words: “There is no substitute for knowing everything. There is always something to do, something to see, more to find out.” So whether you’re a seasoned veteran creative, or freshly minted and setting out your stall, come find out a little bit more at Malcolm Garrett’s Campfire talk on Thursday 16th October at 7pm.
