Documenter, photographer & artist, with a keen eye for collaborating with queer performers, Revell's archive is now available for all to use as part of the LGBTQ+ collections at Bishopsgate Institute.

Holly Revell's work has evolved from working alongside performers with her participatory installations to turning her camera on to those who inspire her. Revell's archive preserves photographic and video documentation of London-based queer performance, promotional imagery and portraits of some of its makers, including Nando Messias, Scottee, David Hoyle, Jonny Woo, Ginger Johnson and many more. It also contains earlier works such as nudes made with adult performers Ashley Ryder and Mouse, images made in her infamous ‘Darkroom’ installations, the series ‘Transformations’, and her photo book ‘David Hoyle Parallel Universe’. It dates back to 2008 and will continue to grow and evolve, encompassing just a fraction of the brilliant and important work that is currently being made within the LGBTQ+ community, seen through Holly’s lens.

So, come and celebrate Revell's work at this special launch event. There will also be an opportunity to view archive materials, as well as hear short talks from Scottee and Nando Messias. And of course, drinks will be available to purchase from the pop-up bar!
