Phaidon Opens its Picadilly Pop-up Book Shop



Phaidon, publisher of the world’s finest books on the visual arts and culture, including architecture, photography, design, cookery, travel and children’s books, have launched their very first high street store.

The pop-up space at 173 Piccadilly faces the Royal Academy of Arts, and will reside in this central London location until the end of January 2010.

Phaidon Store features the full range of Phaidon titles. From the groundbreaking The Art Book and the bestselling bible of Italian cuisine The Silver Spoon, to the Wallpaper* City Guides and award-winning children’s books, Phaidon Store offers beautifully designed publications on the world’s top artists, designers, photographers, architects, chefs and cultural commentators.

New autumn 2009 titles, such as I Know How to Cook, the bible of home cooking and a bestseller in France for decades published for the first time in English in an updated edition, Painting Today, a comprehensive survey of world painting of the last 30 years, and Anish Kapoor, the definitive volume on one of Britain’s greatest living sculptors, will be released every week between now and Christmas.

In addition, Phaidon Store will display exclusive new Phaidon Collector’s Editions by leading artists such as Tacita Dean, Jeff Wall and Stephen Shore, which will be exhibited for the first time. Each original print is signed and numbered by the artist, accompanied by a limited edition of a Phaidon book that is specially bound, individually signed and numbered, and presented in a custom-made box.
